  • International Midwife Assistance - News Update. At our first annual Gala on May 5, 2011, our attendees participated in a paddle raiser to help IMA purchase a new, much-needed vehicle for our clinic in Uganda. They raised more than $16,000 toward to the purchase and registration of the vehicle. Thanks to our supporters, we now have our new van! It will be used as an emergency transport vehicle, as well as for traveling to outreach on Thursdays.

We are so very grateful for the support of our Gala attendees. Thank you so much for helping us purchase this new vehicle. It will make a huge difference in the lives of so many patients.

Birth Stories - We are highlighting some of the recent births at our clinic in honor of TSMP's newest accomplishment. This summer the District of Soroti responded favorably to our application to pilot another innovation. TSMP is now permitted to provide services to laboring mothers who were previously not allowed to deliver at our place because they were considered high risk.

These profiled patients feel honored to have an opportunity to tell their birth stories. They not only consented to tell their birth stories, they are happy for you to know more about their lives. IMA volunteer midwife Elizabeth Whitworth, CNM, submitted their stories and photos this July. Jesca, 26 years old, came to our clinic using our free Bajaj transportation in the middle of the night to have her fifth child. Lucy, 22 years old, also came to TSMP on the Bajaj on a bright, sunny afternoon to have her third baby.
